HEATING DESIGN SERVICE - PART L COMPLIANCE CALCULATOR

This calculator is a guide to show how simple adjustments to a building's design can aid compliance. It is primarily for new build properties where the building design has yet to be finalised. Please bear in mind that if the options do not meet your requirements exactly, they can be used as an indicator to show what different types of adjustments are available and how they affect the DER.

Section 2

For multiple dwellings, like flats the 'Block Assesment' method in SAP allows carbon emissions of the whole block to be considered for compliance, rather than each flat. So better performing properties can off-set those that don't perform so well, with the performance of the whole block averaged out. For example, applying solar hot water to top storey flats, with the carbon saving benefit shared across the whole block, is often sufficient to achieve compliance. Click here for instructions on use
