What are the benefits of DuoHeat radiators over storage heaters?
DuoHeat radiators are designed to give the user more flexibility and controllability of their heat requirements utilising a mix of off-peak and direct-acting heat sources which, uniquely, work together for maximum efficiency and comfort. A built-in room thermostat monitors the room temperature and if it drops below the users comfort setting the direct-acting element comes on to regulate the room temperature to the desired level. Its revolutionary design means it can make energy efficiency savings of up to 10% compared with the traditional off peak electric heating systems, a figure which is recognized in SAP2005 – the current method for ensuring compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations.
Is the DuoHeat radiator compatible with any of the Dimplex controls?
Yes, it is compatible with our 4 zone central controller, which is available in mains borne and pilot wire options.
Does the DuoHeat radiator need both off peak and direct-acting [day rate] energy together?
Yes, for the DuoHeat radiator to work correctly it needs to work both energy sources together. It requires an off peak energy connection for the stored heat and a peak [day rate] energy connection for the direct-acting panel. However, in the summer/spring when a very small amount of heating may only be required, it is OK to have the peak supply only with heat coming from the radiant front panel.
Can the DuoHeat radiator be wall mounted?
DuoHeat radiators are not designed for wall mounting, they have to have a combination of feet and secure wall fixings because of their weight.
How much does a DuoHeat radiator cost to run?
This depends on the individual energy suppliers and their charges for
off peak energy, however it is one of the most cost effective electric
heating solutions as it combines a mixture of ‘off peak’ and ‘day rate’
energy. For more information please refer to the 'Running Cost' tab in
the domestic heating section of this website.
Where can I buy DuoHeat radiators?
Please go to “Stockist” section of the site.
Are DuoHeat radiators easy to use?
DuoHeat radiators are extremely simple to use, because they have one simple finger-tip control that operates both the off peak and radiant front panel together.
Do DuoHeat radiators require much maintenance?
No, because they have no moving parts or internal combustion, DuoHeat radiators are virtually maintenance free and do not require an annual safety check.
How many DuoHeat radiators will I need to heat a property effectively?
It is important to install the correct mix of heaters to ensure the heaters/system work properly. We offer a variety of options to help you work out the correct products. For further information, please refer to the 'How much heat do I need’ and 'Heating design' tabs in the domestic heating section of this website.
Can I move my DuoHeat radiators?
This should only be executed by a competent person or qualified electrician. For safety reasons all electrical supplies to the heater must be switched off and all bricks removed before moving the heater.
Can I dry my clothes on my DuoHeat radiator?
No, you should never cover the surfaces of the heater or obstruct the air outlet grilles as this will cause temperatures of the product to rise and the safety cut-outs to operate.
Does the DuoHeat radiator meet the requirements of Building Regulations Part L1?
Yes, because it uses a combination of off peak and day energy, DuoHeat radiators are a very effective way of heating and offer a reduction of total energy use [kWh] of up to 10% compared to traditional storage heaters. This 10% reductions in energy is recognized within SAP2005, the current method of ensuring products comply with Part L.
