No, we do not advise the painting of our heaters.

What type of heat do your fires produce?

The majority of our Optiflame range give out fan assisted convected heat, although some of the SP models have heated glass which provides radiant and convected heat. Our radiant fires have bars which glow and radiant heat. We also have one fire, the Burlington, a cast metal product, which gives a mix of convected and radiant heat.

What is the difference between an inset fire and a freestanding fire?

An inset fire requires a fireplace opening or wall cavity behind it or a rebated fire surround in order to install the fire. The freestanding style of fire is very easy to install, sits flat against the wall and does not require a cavity behind it, however many of our inset fires also come with a compact spacer which allows the fire to be freestanding or fitted flat to the wall.

Will your inset fires fit my fireplace?

All of our inset fires are designed to fit most brick built, pre-fabricated or pre-cast flues, however if installation details are critical to your choice and location of the product, please contact our Customer Care team before purchasing

Can I operate the flame effect on the fire without the heat?

All our Optiflame fires can be operated on a flame-effect only setting, as can the flickering flame effect on our freestanding bar fires.

Is the flame effect expensive to run?

No, to run the flame effect involves powering 2 light bulbs and a small electric motor and in most cases the cost is no more than a penny an hour. Some of our new fires also have LED lamps fitted which are even more energy efficient. Please refer to the Energy Saving Features tab on the left hand menu.

Can I change the fuel bed on my fire?

Yes, on many of our Optiflame fires. Selected models come with a choice of fuel bed whilst with others a different fuel bed can be purchased as an accessory. Please see individual product pages for details.

Are your fires easy to install?

The majority of our fires come with a fitted plug and simply connect to a 13amp socket. The only fires that require any kind of installation are the wall mounted Optiflame fires, which require fixing or insetting into the wall and the MIR40 which connects to a conventional wet central heating system.

Do you sell fire surrounds?

We have a small range of surrounds, but we also have a new range of suites which come with the fire and surround as one package. Alternatively, a wide range of surrounds can be purchased from various surround manufactures, please refer to the links button on the left hand menu for details.
