Using LED lamps in fires offers massive running-cost savings over conventional and even compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. With these lamps fitted in the new range of Dimplex LE (Low Energy) fires the total consumption using the Optiflame effect and no heat is less than 14 Watts per hour or less than 12% of the energy consumed by two 60 Watt bulbs. This equates to a cost less than £2 per year1 whilst giving the equivalent light output of 2x60 watt bulbs. Not only are they much more energy efficient than conventional bulbs, they also last longer tan any other light source. These solid-state LED lamps have no moving parts, no fragile shells, and no delicate filaments. They are efficient in that they give off directional light and only generate light in the visible spectrum. There is little ultraviolet light or infra-red radiation and therefore they give off almost no heat. They are not subject to sudden failure or burnout. Consequently the expected life of our LED lamps is 100,000 hours or almost 55 years!2
Each Dimplex LE fire also comes complete with a thermostat to provide
accurate control of running costs when in heating mode, making these
fires the most environmentally friendly on the market.
