RENEWABLE SOLUTIONS - LOW CARBON FUNDING (PHASE 1)
Launched in 2006, Phase 1 of the DTI’s (now DBERR) Low Carbon Buildings Programme is managed by the Energy Savings Trust and will run until mid 2008. It replaces the previous Clear Skies and Solar PV grant programmes.
Open to householders, public sector, not for profit and commercial organisations across the UK (except the Channel Islands and Isle of Man), the programme is intended to demonstrate how energy efficiency and microgeneration can work hand in hand to create low carbon buildings.
Two streams of grants are available under Phase 1, covering a broad range of renewable technologies. To be eligible for a grant, both the product and installer must be accredited under either Clear Skies or the new UK Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

Grants available for Dimplex products
Stream one – For householders
Dimplex ground source heat pumps: £1200 or 30% of eligible installation costs (which ever is lower).
Dimplex air source heat pumps: £900 or 30% of eligible installation costs (which ever is lower). Available from Autumn 2007.
Dimplex solar water heating: £400 or 30% of eligible installation costs (which ever is lower). (Dimplex application for product certification pending).
Stream two – For medium and large microgeneration projects by public, not for profit and commercial organisations
The stream 2 fund is comprised of two categories:
- Stream 2A - to be allocated over six funding rounds (subject to availability of funds). Maximum grant of £100k or 40-50% of total costs (excl. VAT). There will be quarterly deadlines for stream 2A applications
- Stream 2B - to be allocated over three funding rounds (and one reserve round) Maximum grant of £1m or 40-50% of total costs (excl. VAT). Deadlines for applications will be quarterly.
Dimplex ground source heat pumps are currently eligible under the
scheme. Once full accreditation is complete, Dimplex air source heat
pumps and solar hot water solutions will also be eligible (anticipated
Autumn 2007).
