SECTION 2 - HOW TO USE

Section 2
For multiple dwellings, like flats and apartments the 'Block Assesment' methop in SAP allows the carbon emissions of the whole block to be considered for compliance, rather than each individual flat having to comply. This allows for better performing properties to off-set those that don't perform so well, with the performance of the block as a whole averaged out. For example, applying solar hot water to the top storey flats, with the overall carbon saving benefit shared across the whole block, is often sufficient to achieve compliance.

How to use

  • Click 'Calculate/Refresh' at the bottom of Section 2. Select from the drop down fields in the left hand side [its easiest to start with Ground Floor Flat] of the Section 1 - Single Property, click 'Calculate/Refresh' and the results will appear on the right hand side.

  • Complete line one of Section 2, filling in how many properties of this type exist, what the floor ares is and putting in the TER and DER result figures from Section 1.

  • Return to Section 1 - Single Property and repeat the selection process for Top Floor Flat. Again click 'Calculate/Refresh' and then complete line two fo Section 2 with the figures returned.

  • If the building is more than 2 stories high, return to Section 1 - Single Property and repeat the selection process for Mid Floor Flat and then complete line three of Section 2, otherwise go to next bullet.

  • Click 'Calculate/Refresh' at the bottom of Section 2.

  • The results will be returned on the right hand side of Section 2.

  • If you do not achieve a 'Pass' in the Block Compliance field, then alernatives form within the drop down menu in Section 1 can be selected. Tou can then over-type the revised DER figures in the relevant boxes in Section 2.

  • Important - Once the initial set of results have been returned, please remember to click the 'Calculate/Refresh' button every time you make a change.
