Working for Dimplex

Thinking about a career in heating and ventilations? Learn what it is like to work for Dimplex, the market leader in the creation and manufacture of energy efficient electric heating appliances and systems.

From research and development, manufacture, to engineering, sales & marketing, customer service and finance, there are many roles within the business that challenge and drive our employees to be the best at what they do on a world stage.

Here some of our people talk about their roles and the teams they work with:

Brett  – graduate technical services engineer

“I have spent my time detailing heating schemes and quotations for customers looking to invest in heat pump technology and producing detailed CAD drawings for individual projects, both in 2D and 3D. I am currently administrating the production of in-house engineering training materials, producing scripts to provide structure for filming.”

Elaine - credit manager

“Working with the returns and sales administration departments, I am responsible for opening of new accounts and resolving any credit limit issues. I will make sure that the team are able to process queries quickly to help avoid any delay in payments.”

Don – heating design manager

“Schemes can vary in size from a single property, right through to sites of 500 properties or more for large developers.  As a result, the volume of work will vary a lot from week to week but, overall, the team produce approximately 2,000 schemes per year.

We also carry out in-depth heat loss calculations and give our advice and guidance on the best suited product applications to deliver the desired heating requirements. All these calculations and recommendations need to be carried out in accordance with regulatory bodies and with specific design criteria, so this can be quite technical.”

Karen – receptionist

“I work with everyone - answering the telephone, assisting with administration roles, making sure that the reception is running smoothly.”

Anna - sales administration supervisor

“I work with the sales administration team, as well as having regular contact with most other teams within the building and out on the road. Sales administration processes the orders and answer questions that come through from our direct account holders. I help the team accurately achieve this and also maintain account details and team reporting.”

Jo – management accountant

“I work most closely with finance, purchase ledger, supply chain and credit management.  The first two weeks of the month are spent preparing the accounts and various reports relating to the previous months results.  The rest of the month anything goes, depending on the time of the year.  It’s never dull in accounting!”

Paul - head of supply chain

“Although working with most departments, generally my main interactions are with the ndc, returns, sales order processing, accounts and the marketing teams. The best aspect of what I do in that there is no typical day. If I was to generalise however the day would centre around the logistical side of our business in regards to stock availability and deliveries.”

Christine – sales & management reporting analysis, commercial finance

“Work varies day to day dependent on my reporting focus.  I regularly work closely with finance, it, sales force, credit control, technical/customer service, supply chain & marketing, compiling & building reports from multiple databases. I will be setting up reporting publications, scheduling new reports and auditing reporting data.”
