A simple approach for Improving EPC ratings on rented properties

There will shortly be a new requirement for privately rented properties to have a minimum energy performance rating of an E on their Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). These regulations come into action for new lets and tenancy renewals from 1st April 2018, and for all existing tenancies on 1st April 2020, where it will become illegal to rent a property which breaches this minimum E rating (unless there is an applicable exemption). This means landlords should start preparing now in order to meet these minimum requirements by April.

If you are a landlord or install for landlords considering a heating upgrade to their residential properties, then investing in a Dimplex Quantum heating system can improve the EPC rating of a property by up to 11 points, potentially raising it by a whole band. All by simply installing these intelligent High Heat Retention Storage Heaters.

Quantum is one of the only products that has been recognised in SAP as a ‘High Heat Retention Storage Heater’, proving to be an unrivalled system that offers significant running costs and improved energy efficiency ratings. Not only does it offer benefits to landlords and property owners as a maintenance-free response, it is also BEAB approved (the highest safety standard in the UK). Its clever use of Off-peak energy can also provide up to 47% savings when compared to an electric convector or radiator system, and a 27% saving compared to a standard storage heater system.* So it can be a valuable differentiating feature when letting.

Whether improving rental properties to get them up to at least the minimum E rating on a properties EPC, or simply enhancing a property’s potential, all it takes is opting for a Dimplex Quantum heating system that is future proof, energy efficient, reliable and safe.
