Benefits of portable electric heating for all professional projects

Dimplex portable products are ideal for localised heating and for supplementary heating where the main heating system is not keeping staff or visitors warm enough. They are ideal as top up heaters in retail premises, hotels and offices, right through to heating outside cabins and even as window demisters.

Dimplex electric portable heaters simply plug in, so there is no installation, making them ideal answer for almost any room (except washrooms) that require supplementary heating, or for heat to be introduced to areas of the home where it is not feasible or desirable to extend the main heating system. Portability means heaters can easily be moved from room to room, or property to property. Then stored when not required.

Environmentally friendly and cost effective

It is important to specify responsibly with regards to the use and conserving of energy whenever possible. Portable Heaters enable heat to be introduced on a room only basis, rather than the entire building.

Portable heaters with Electronic Climate Control, or thermostatic control, ensure the room temperature does not fluctuate and are less likely to cause over heating a room which wastes energy. The thermostats used within products that feature electronic climate control enable users to adjust the desired temperature to within +/- 1.5oC making them even better at monitoring temperature and maximising efficiency.

Heat selection switches enables a customer to adjust the heat output more closely to their exact needs, leading to less energy being used, and 24 hour timers can control when the heater switches on and off, allowing customers to plan heating needs in advance.

Dimplex’s patented oil free technology in certain radiator products not only ensures that there is no oil to worry about at the end of the product's lifecycle, it also offers 30% faster warm up and 25% energy savings over traditional oil filled competitors. (Based on heating a room, speed of warm up 10°C to 22°C, range average: Glen Dimplex test laboratory results 2010.)

Overall, Electric portable heating remains one of the most cost effective ways to provide emergency or supplementary heat for a particular space.

In order to get a broad idea of the running costs for a heater you can use this calculator:

Energy input (kW) x pence per kWh= running cost

For example a 2kW fan heater run continuously (without stopping) for 1 hour would be:

2kW x 14p/kWh = 28 pence per hour

(Calculation is based on 0.14p per kWh – we recommend confirming the electricity tariff for an actual hourly rate a customer would be paying. Calculating an accurate running cost varies from room to room because of many variables, number of door, windows, aspect and so forth.)

Safe & reliable

Unlike gas portable heaters, no fuel is consumed within portable electric heaters, so there are no fumes, no risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, no need for extra ventilation, no bottles to be changed and no requirement for annual safety checks.

The majority of Dimplex portable heaters also offer the added reassurance of BEAB approval, the highest safety standard achievable in the UK market.

The presence of a BEAB Approved Mark on a product demonstrates that Intertek (an independent third party) has verified its safety.

Look for the BEAB mark on our portable heating products, packaging and literature.
