Design guidance to implement diversity factors for ambient temperature networks

To help with the specification of the Zeroth Energy System into new residential and mixed-use apartments, Dimplex, in collaboration with TUV SUD has produced for us an independent guide written by Wallace Whittle, entitled Design Guidance to implement Diversity Factors for Ambient Temperature Networks using the Zeroth Energy System

The guide allows building services to calculate diversity factors confidently and accurately, successfully implementing the Zeroth Energy System by providing system design information and references which lay out the steps needed in the design process including:

  • Planning stage considerations that form the basis for the implementation of the Zeroth Energy System
  • Determining realistic and appropriate diversity for the application
  • Calculating total heating and cooling loads for the development using relevant diversity factors and determining plant and distribution loads
  • Calculating design primary flow rates
  • Defining the pipework across the whole system according to flowrate
  • Determining the combined Zeroth Heat Pump electrical loads for developments, and sizing and specifying equipment such as generation plant and flexible heat storage. Download the Design Guidance to implement Diversity Factors for Ambient Temperature Networks using the Zeroth Energy System to confidently implement the Zeroth Energy System into your next residential apartment or mixed-use development project and start to benefit from :

  • Increased system efficiency and carbon reduction
  • Support in new Building Regulations and local (e.g. London Plan) compliance
  • Heating and hot water, with the option for comfort cooling
  • Reduced heat-loss into communal spaces
  • Flexibility of specification of plant, emitters and controls
  • Easy installation and the option of prefabricated utility cupboards
