Quantum
The highly efficient delivery of heat and its ability to act as a thermal battery with simple and intuitive user controls makes Quantum a well suited and trusted solution for social housing sector refurbishment projects. The intelligent and adaptive controls ensure Quantum delivers economical heating for social housing tenants helping to reduce energy costs whilst delivering the thermal comfort required.
Dimplex Smart Heating System
The Dimplex Smart Heating System combines advanced, energy efficient heating technologies designed to work seamlessly with Quantum, delivering a reliable, all-in-one heating and hot water solution for social housing.
The Edel hot water heat pump provides a low-carbon energy-efficient solution for the reliable provision of domestic hot water for social housing. Edel helps reduce carbon emissions across all new and existing dwelling types. When used for modelling in SAP 10.2 and RdSAP, Edel can help achieve updated Part L compliance and improve EPC ratings.
EdelThe Q-Rad electric radiator with infrared technology combines aesthetic appeal and reliability with high energy efficiency and intelligent controls, making it the ideal choice for the social housing sector. It has been designed to operate as a standalone heater, or as part of a smart heating system that uses Q-Rad along with Quantum off-peak high heat retention storage heaters and the Edel hot water heat pump for highly efficient delivery of hot water and space heating.
Q-RadThe Zeroth Energy System
The Zeroth Energy System combines a central ambient loop with compact in-apartment heat pumps and is an energy efficient and flexible way to deliver space heating, domestic hot water and optional comfort cooling to social housing apartments. It utilises an ambient loop that is maintained at 25°C by a central plant, often a renewable source, or via a district heating network (DHN) connection. The central ambient loop is connected to in-apartment units that comprise a Zeroth water-water heat pump and hot water cylinder.
Social Housing Case Studies
South Kesteven District Council in Lincolnshire want to ensure their social housing tenants have access to the lowest energy costs. During the refurbishment of an off-gas, 3-bed end-of-terrace property, the council took the opportunity to install Dimplex Quantum high heat retention storage heaters providing access to low-cost energy tariffs. These were paired with the low-carbon Edel hot water heat pump to provide an energy efficient solution for both heating and hot water.
South Kesteven CouncilThe Llanrumney development offers a blueprint for future housing projects. For residents, it delivers affordable warmth, reliable hot water, enhanced comfort, and greater control over energy use. For the environment, it reduces emissions and accelerates progress toward net-zero housing. For the energy sector, it showcases how demand-shifting technologies like Quantum and Edel can support grid stability and renewable integration, making housing developments part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
Homes in LlanrumneyThe Zeroth Energy System was paired with E.ON’s ectogrid™ to provide highly efficient, low carbon heating for Plot 6 of the Silvertown regeneration. Plot 6, developed by Landlease with Maccreanor Lavington as architect and Bryden Wood as M&E consultant, delivered 106 affordable homes in the last quarter of 2025. It marks the starting point of a 6,500-home development that will rank among the UK’s largest affordable housing projects.
